Welcome to the British-Kazakh Society Charity Race Site
Back in October the 12th 2008 the ‘Almaty Flyers’ a mixed ability group from Air Astana completed the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London.
After the team finished the grueling 13.1 mile course they were greeted by Saule Kudaibergenova of Agip KCO and Gauhar Bramley-Fenton of the British-Kazakh Society, who came to support Air Astana.
The idea of having a charity race somewhere in Kazakhstan came about while we were having some refreshments and taking photos.
Although marathons and charity races culture is pretty strong in the UK (there are about 50 marathons in 2009) it was Air Astana team that got us inspired.
We are hoping to raise substantial donations for two children’s charities as well as brining attention of the Kazakhstan public to an admirable work these organizations do.
Our ambition is to hold a charity race in all major cities in Kazakhstan and eventually organize a full length marathon in Kazakhstan.
