Astana branch of ‘Organisation of Veterans of RK’ Public Association
Organisation of Veterans Astana branch is a voluntary association of veterans of war, home front workers, armed forces and other categories of pensioners. The mail goal of the organisation is improving living and social conditions of the veterans, lobbying for their rights and freedoms, and their wider participation in public life.
Priorities are given to the support of WW2 veterans and disabled. This year Kazakhstan and other former Soviet republics are celebrating 65 anniversary of the Great Victory over Nazi Germany. There are 474 veterans living in the capital Astana, and the organisation is also working with 470 wives of the deceased veterans, 25 widows of soldiers who did not return from battle fields and who did not re-marry and 4088 home front workers.
The British-Kazakh Society charity race donations will be covering costs such as WW2 veterans’ financial support, funerals assistance, renovations of accommodations in critical conditions and medical help.
